Volume of a cube = 6a2
Volume of 3 cubes = 18a2
Volume of three cubes placing adjacent each other = 6a2+5a2+5a2= 16a2
Ratio= 16/18 = 8:9

Let the side of a cube be 'a'
Total surface area of a cube=6a^2
Total surface area of a 3 cubes=3*6a^2=18a^2
After joining 3 cubes In a row
Length of cuboid=3a
Breadth and height of a cuboid=a
Total surface area of cuboid=2(3a^2+a^2+3a^2)=14a^2
Ratio of total surface area of cuboid to the total surface area of 3 cubes=14a^2/18a^2=7/9
Ans:-7/9
