son's age=x
father;s age=3x
after 12 years father will be twice as old as the age of son at that time ,which means 3x+12=2(x+12)
3x+12=2x+24
x=12
now,fathers age=3*12=36
son age = 12
diff b/w their ages is 36-12=24.

let son age =x
father age = 3x
after 12 year => 3x+12=2(x+12)=> x=12
son age = 12
father age =36
difference =24

let father is F and son is S
F=3*S --------------(i)
after 12 years father is F+12
and son is S+12
so as per question=F+12=2*(S+12)
F+12=2S+24
F-2S=12 -------------(ii)
let put the value of a father in equation ii
3S-2S=12
S=12
now put the value of s in equation i
F=3*S
F=3*12
F=36
so the difference between present age of father and son is =>36-12=24
ans is C
