Ratio method is the fastest approach to this problem
total CP:SP given as 45:44 ----- difference is 1 unit
so, 1 unit----- 20 rs
total SP ---- 44 unit = 44 x 20 = 880rs
selling price ratio = 4:7
so 4+7 units = 11 units which is = 880rs
so 1 unit =80rs
asked difference between SP is 7-4 = 3units
which is 3 x 80rs = 240rs

Let,
CPa and CPb = 4x and 5x respectively
SPa and SPb = 4y and 7y respectively

total cp : total sp = 45:44
or, (4x+5x) : (4y+7y) = 45:44
or, 9x/11y = 45/44
or, x/y = 5/4 -------- (1)

also given, net loss = 20
so, 9x - 11y = 20 --------(2)

solving (1) and (2),
y=80

Difference betwn their SP = 7y-4y
= 3y
= Rs.240

c1/c2=4/5
c1+c2=4x+5x=9x
like above selling price ratio is s1+s2=11y
and given c1+c2=45z
and s1+s2=44z
and 45z-44z=20 and z=20
and s1+s2=44*20
and 11y=44z
y=80, and i f you submit this in second ration of qn
7y-4y=560-320
240 is the answer
