shortcut:
check from the options
Q1. the original no. of ball in 2nd container are in ratio 2:1
among the options only 6 can be divided in that ratio
Q2. initially the 2nd container ratio is 2:1
so, if 5 ball were transferred 24-5=19 , can't be in 2:1 ratio
similarly for 10 : 24-10=14
therefore it has to be 15

Q2. if the number of balls in the first container is 25, find the value of N for which the final number of balls in the second container becomes 24

if the number of balls in the first container is 25,it means there are 10 green and 15 red balls. After shifting of N balls, balls left are 2y and 3y respectively.
In container 2, finally there are 12 balls of each colour and initially it had 2x green balls and x red balls.

so 10-2y=12-2x or x-y=1
15-3y= 12-x or 3y-x=3

solving, x=3,y=2
so N = 25-5y = 25-10=15 as finally 5y balls are left in container 1.

Q1. if N=10, what is the original number of balls in the second container

a 6

4 green and 2 red balls.
4 green and 6 red balls were added in container 2 to get 8 green and 8 red balls and then taio became 1:1.

1) 6.Because if 10 balls are added to 2nd container total no of balls are 2y+y=3y.so total no of balls should be 3 multiple.its 6.
2)5. because 2x+3x=25. since x=5 container 1 contains 10green 15 red balls. to keep the same ratio i.e 2:3 we can divide them as 5*2:5:3 which those 5 balls are going to be add to container 2.
