let alcohol=4x liters ; water=3x liters
5 liters of water is added then total amount of water will be 3x+5
=> (4x/3x+5)=4/5
=> x=5/2
So quantity of alcohol in the mixture is 4*(5/2)=10liters

let the quantity of alcohol and water b 4x and 3x litres respectively.
after 5 litres added....water=3x +5
4x/3x+5=4/5
x=2.5
alcohol=4x=10litre

let content of alcohol is =x, & water is y.
given is x/y=4/3.........eq.1
now after adding 5 liter of water it is x/y+5=4/5...........eq.2
on solving both we get alcohol(x)=10lit. & water(y)=7.5liter

intial the mixture is 4/3
after adding 5 litrs of water the ratio becomes 4x/3x+5 =4/5
ans 10 litrs

let the common ratio be 'x'
therefore qty of alcohol and water is 4x & 3x litres. After adding 5 litres of water the ratio becomes 4:5. Therefore (3x+5)*4= 5*4x.
x=5/8, therefore qty of alcohol in the mixture is 2.5 litres.

answer is 10 litres
let us assume that content of alcohol is 4x litres and water be 3x litres. 5 litres of water is added ie., 3x+5 litres now. again the fresh ratio is 4:5, ie., 4x/(3x+5) = 4/5, on solving we get x as 2.5, so quantity of alcohol is 4(2.5) = 10 litres.

let alcohol=3x and water =4x
after 5 liters of water is added so,
by taking ratio 4/5=4x/(3x+5) so that ,x=5/2
finally total alcohol in mixture is =4*5/2=10litres

5 ltrs of water is added then total amnt of water will be=3x+5
=> (4x/3x+5)=4/5
=> x=5/2
