If the Middlemost comnpartment carrying 25 passengers is filled with 71.428% of its capacity, then find the maximum number of passengers in the train that can be accommodated if it has minimum 20% seats always vacant :

let x be the no. of seats in a wagon
acc. to the question no. of wagons are equal to the no. seats in a wagon
therefore, 71.428% of x=25
so x=35
we have 35 wagons and each wagon is having a capacity of 35 seats
so, the total capacity of train = 35*35
and 20% seats always vacant
therefore no. of passangers in train= (35*35)-(20/100(35*35))
=980

no. of wagons is equal to no. of seats in each wagon
and not more than one passenger can have the same berth ,it means every passenger can acquire only one berth and it must not be shared with any other passenger.
the Middlemost compartment carrying 25 passengers is filled with 71.428% of its capacity,
if the total capacity of middlemost compartment is 'x'
then x*(71.428%)=25
which gives x=35 ,that means middlemost compartment or wagon has 35 seats.
as it is given that no. of wagons (or compartments) is equal to no. of seats in each wagon so the total no. of wagons is 35.
so total no. of seats in the train is =no. of wagons * no. of seats in each wagon
=35*35
=1225
so total seats in the train are 1225
as 20% seats are always vacant
so 20% of 1225 is 20% * 1225=245
so 245 seats are always vacant
so no. of seats that can be occupied is=total no. of seats-no. of vacant seats
1225-245=980
so total of 980 passengers can be accomodated
