first merchant get profit of 10% from cp=> (cp*110/100)=1000 => cp=Rs.909
so first merchant get profit of Rs.91.
second merchant get profit of 10% from sp=> profit=1000*10/100 =Rs.100
so the profit of second merchant is high and it is more than first merchant by 9Rs.

first merchants profit is 10% so cp=900 and profit=100 so, profit for rs.1000 is 111.11 now second merchant profit 10% so sp=1000 profit 100 so first merchant made more profit,Rs.11.11 rather then second merchant.

first merchant get profit of only 90rs.
and the second gets profit of 100rs.
so the second one gets high profit

c.p of first merchant =Rs 909.09
c.p of second merchant =Rs 900
so,second merchant made more profit & of Rs 100.

generally we calculate profit in context of c.p. for that in first case profit is 10%. i.e. c.p=s.p*100/(100+profit)=1000*100/110=10000/11
now,profit(for first case)=10%of 10000/11=91(approx)
In second case,profit=10%of s.p=10*1000/100=100
