x+x+3+x+6+x+9+x+12=50
5x+30=50,
x=4

let youngest child's age=x
then 2nd,3rd,4th,5th child age isx+3,x+6,x+9,x+12
total age=5x+30=50 (given)
x=(50-30)/5=4 year

x+x+3+x+6+x+9+x+12=50
5x+30=50
5x=20
x=4
The yongest child age is 4 years

here in the above problem the ages of children are in ARITHMETIC PROGRESSION(A.P)
sum of 5 children age=50==s,
the common difference=3==d,
number of children=5==n,
based on formula for sum of n number which are in A.P s=n/2(2a+(n-1)d)
where a is starting value==youngest child value(in this pblm)
so by substituting the given values: 50=5/2(2a+(5-1)3)
finally we get a=4(the age of youngest child)
