the direction in which A and B have started to travel is not mentioned. since they have taken turns in south and north direction, it definitely makes sense that they started in either east or west direction.assume either east or west. now, both start from the same point, so A is 40 kms from the starting point at 12,(20x2) and B takes a turn at 11, but he takes a turn at exactly the same point as A has taken since in one hour(10-11), A can travel 40 kms. one has turned in north and the other in south, so that means both have taken turns in opposite direction. now A travels 40kms from the point of turn, because from 12 o'clock to 2 o'clock, the time difference is 2 hrs and in 2 hrs A travels "40" kms away from the point of turn. B travels 120 kms away from the point of turn,since time gap from 11 o'clock to 2 o'clock is 3 hrs and in 3 hrs it travels "120"kms(3x40) away from the point of turn. since both have taken turns in opposite direction, the distance between A and B is 120+40=160 kms

A started at 10o'clock,so by 12o'clock he travels 40kms
similarlly B travels 40 kms by 11o'clock. Both of them after travelling 4okms one took right turn and other took left turn.So at 2o'clock A was 40kms from taking turn and B was 120kms from turn.SO net distance between them is 40+120=160kms

Ans is 240 km....
a travels 40km towards south by 12am.by 2 am,he travels 80km towards south(his speed is 20km/h)
b travels 40km towards north by 11am.by 2 am,he travels 160km towards north(his speed is 40km/h)
total distance between a & b is 160+80=240km

let say starting point be west after 11 a B travels 40km and turns towards north and A travels 40 km after 12 clk and after 2 pm they are 200 km apart from each other
