the answer is c). 15
the total of the three distinct positive numbers comes out to be (6*3)=18.
so the combination involving largest value can be 1,2 & 15

coz (x+y+z)/3 = 6
x+y+z = 18
so as given x,y,z are distinct the largest num must be less than 18
so if 16 the other two wud be 1,1 but not distict so 15+2+1 are 3 distinct

We are going to use the formula for the average of three numbers and work backwards to find the answer to your question.

We find the average of three distinct integers by finding their sum and dividing by three.

Since we divide the sum by 3 and get 6 as the average, the sum of the integers must be 18. (18/3 = 6.)
Now we have three distinct integers that add up to 18. We want to know what is the greatest possible value for one of them. If one integer is going to be as large as possible, the other two must be a small as possible. The two smallest positive integers are 1 and 2.
Now we have 1 + 2 + [our mystery integer] = 18.
1 + 2 = 3, so our mystery integer must be 15. (15 + 3 = 18.)

(x+y+z)/3=6

by trail and error method (16+1+1)/3=18

let a,b,c be three distinct +ve numbers so as to get the max possible value of a,b,c such that they give an avg of 6
two of them must be smallest
so 1,2 therefore the largest number we can obtain is 15

distinct means different.so 1,2,15 are the numbers whose avg is 18. so 15 is the largest value
