let the time both of them meet be t
therefore, the ratio of their times to reach their destinations(to cover the whole distance is t+4/t+9)

their respective speed ratio will be 1: (t+4/t+9) which is t+9/t+4

before meeting Yana must have covered 48t of the distance.

to cover the same distance gupta takes 48t/9 km/hr (this is an important deduction as they are travelling towards each other)

we have ratios of the speed..

48 : 48t/9= t+9 : t+4

t/9= t+9/t+4
which results into a quadratic equation
t^2=36
t= 6 hrs
therefore, gupta's speed will be 48 * 6/9= 32 km/hr

If A takes 4hrs to reach his destination after meeting B then the distance he travelled is 192km in those 4hrs.
So if the total distance is D then the equations can be written as
(D-192)/48=192/b - (eqn 1) where b is the speed of B
Now since B reached his destination in 9 hrs so
(D-192)/b=9 this implies that (D-192)=9 * b^2
Putting this in eqn 1 we get
9b^2=48*192
b^2=16*64
b=32

This can be solved by this formula:
A's speed/B's speed = ( Tb/Ta )^(1/2)
Ta = 4 hrs and Tb = 9 hrs
so, B's speed = 72kmph ans.

4*48/y = 9y /48
9y^2 = 192 * 48
y = 32 kmph

then the ratio of speeds 1:2
hence
speed of B is 96 km/h

take meeting time D/(48+x) where D distace between X and Y,x is speed of B and use
this to make equation like
48[D/(48+x)]+48*4=D make in the same way for motion of B also and you will get ans 32km/hr
