in my previous solution x wii be 700 insread of 70 (by mistake)..
so correct answer will be 2800 ..

Let the total profit be x.
Then actual share of A should be (3x/7).
But he has got only (x/4).
So (3x/7)-(x/4)=500
So x=2800.

answer is 280

let, profit is 4*x ....
now we can see profit should be divided in 3:4 (acc. to investment)
i.e orginal profit of A=(12/7)*x (4*x is divided in 3:4 )
but actually profit of A=x (4*x is divided in 1:3)
as given loss= (12/7)*x - x =500....
on solving... x=70..
answer is 4*x= 280

Let the total profit be 100 and ratio be x
so,a/q-ratio of profit should be 3:4
so 3x+4x=100
=>7x=100
=>x=100/7
so,Profit of A=(100/7)*3 but he get only rs25
so loss=300/7 - 25 =125/7
since (125/7) loss in 100
1 " " " (100*7)/125
500 " " " (100*7*500)/125 =2800
