Simply by using divisibility rules of 8 and 11

88 can be written as 11*8
Now a number to be divisible by 8 (last three digit should be divisible by 8) . Therefore the value of q be iie. it will make 312 which is divisibe by 8
Now, for a number to be divisible by 11
Difference of sums of alternating digits is divisible by 11..
Now the number reduces to 942220P312..
now,
By adding the alternate terms we get,
(7+P)-16
therefore value of p=9
Hence p+q=9+2=11Ans

If a no is divisible by 88 then it is divisible by factors 8,11.
so,31q is divisible by 8.so the value of q is 2(rule of divisible by 8).
and if the no is divisible by 11=(sum of digits at odd places-sum of digits at even places) is either 0 r no divisible by 11=16-7-p=9-p.so the value of p=9
then p+q=4

88 MEANS 11*8
LAST THREE DIGIT IS DIVISIBLE BY 8 WITHOUT ANY REMINDER SO I TAKEN q=2 BECAUSE 312 IS DIVISIBLE .
THEN NOW WE CHECK FOR 11
SUM OF ODD PALCE DIGIT- SUM OF EVEN PLACE DIGIT IS 0 OR 11
(9+2+0+3+2(q))-(4+2+(P)9+1)=0
SO THE SUM OF P+Q=9+2=11

As 88=11*8 so we check divisibility of number with 8 and 11.
Ans=11;
Because when we can use only 2 for q to make it divisible by 8 as the last 3 digits are checked for divisibility of 8. s 88=11*
And for divisibility of 11 the difference between the sum of digits at odd places and sum of digits at even places must be 11 or 0. Hence condition is satisfied only by putting 9 at place of p. Hence the answer is
p+q=9+2=11.........
