let, price of 1 kg rice is x
6x-6=8x-14
or, x=4
she has (6*4-6)= Rs. 18

let she have x rs in total......so when she purchased 6kg of rice she was short of 6 rs...therefore....price of ikg of rice is given by...(x+6)/6.like this fro other condition we get (x+17)/8.....these are the price of ikg of rice ...equate them and solve for x....x will come out to be 18...
so the answer is 18.:D
