let last year laxman salary be= last(l)
let last year gopal salary be= last(g)
let present year laxman salary be= pr(l)
let present year gopal salary be= pr(g)
then
last(l)/pr(l)=4/5 : last(g)/pr(g)=2/3: eq1/eq2: we get pr(g)/pr(l)=8/5
now a/cq: 8x+5x= 4290: so x=330: nd so pr(l)=1650

lx..n's sa..ry ratio=4:5=3:(5*3/4)
g..l's sa..ry ratio=2:3=4:6
last year salary ratio=3:4
so current year ratio=(5*3/4):6 =5:8
so salary of gopal is 1650

let salary of laxman 1 year ago=x
let salary of gopal 1 year ago=y

x/y=3/4
x=(3/4)*y---------1
y=(4*3)*x---------2
now let present salary of laxman =x+x1;
let present salary of laxman 1 year ago=y+y1;
a.t.q
(x+x1)/x=4/5-----3
(y+y1)/y=2/3-----4
also toal salary is
x+x1+y+y1=4290-------5
putting value of eq 1 and 2 in 3 and 4 resp
we get x1=(-3/20)y;
y1=(-4/9)x;
putting these values of x1 and y1 in eq5
we get
y=3387
x=2540 x1=508
so present salary of laxman=3048

Let the salaries of Laxman and Gopal one yer before be 12x and 16x.
Given that laxman's last year and present year salary are in the ratio 4 : 5 so his present salary = 5/4(12x) = 15x
Also Gopal's last year and present year salary are in the ratio 2 : 3 so his present salary = 3/2(16x) = 24x
But given that sum of the salaries 15x + 24x = 39x = 4290
⇒
x = 110
Laxman's present salary = 15x = 15 x 110 = 1650
