This question can be solved by understanding a pattern, we can call that as pattern of 5 powers,

If a number is divided by 5 or (5 power 1), we have to look at the last digit.
If a nu8mber is divided by 25(5 power 2), we have to look at the last 2 digits.
If a number is divided by 125, we have to look at the last three digits.

Similarly, if a number is divided by 625(5 power 4) we have to look at the last four digits.
So, the last four digits in this case are
7171, when 7171 is divided by 625, the remainder is 296.

So, the answer is 296.

now 1717171717.....10000(101 digits) is completely divisible by 625 (625*16=10000)
so 7171/625 gives the required remainder which is 296
