From the options given in the TCS exam..........Assume Jake speed=4kmph..then,he will reach destination in 2.5hrs. then,paul speed will be 2.5kmph.and he covers thedidtsnce in 4hrs. Then, Jake speed will be more than paul.

let jake speed be 2x and paul 's x.
w.k.t speed =distance/ time
so jake speed is2x=10/0.5t and paul speed is x=10/t. on dividing these eqs we get
2=0.5 . tat implies paul speed is 0.5 km/h.and 2 implies tat jake is 2 times faster than paul.

jake is faster in his speed in covering the same distance . so distance in both the cases would be the same.we knw speed = distance/time.
let speed be x and time be t.
jake spped is x=10/0.5t . paul speed is 2x=10/t . divide these eqs we get
o.5=0.5. L.H.S= R.H.S. so ans is 0.5 km/sec

let t=time, paul speed is (t/(t+1.5)) times to speed of jack

Let jake's speed= s
and time taken by jake=t
paul's speed= x
=> st=x(t+1.5)
=>x=st(t+1.5)
which implies paul speed is (t/(t+1.5)) times to speed of jack

Try to plugin the values from the options. If Joke speed is 4 the paul is 3.
