here the grand fa age is x in x^2 years..so we have to consider x such that the square of x b/w 1900-2000
the only x value is 44^2=1936
so 1936-44=1892 ..so grand fa was born in 1892
note: here 1892 means 19th century ..you may doubt that they are asking about 20th century but they are just talking about 20th century but the grandfather need not to born in 20th century.

x^2 years he was x years.
so we hv to find the value of x such that its square lies in 20th century.
only sq of 44 lies in that interval.
So 44^2= 1936.
so his dob was 1936-44=1892
