17th position from right = 10th position from left

no. of students = 17+10-1 = 26

Let the present age of P and Q be 3x and 4x respectively.

Ten years ago, P was half of Q's age
=> (3x – 10) =

=> 6x – 20 = 4x – 10
=> 2x = 10
=> x = 5

no of students 17+10-1=26 because we r taking george's position twice once from right nd again from left. thus 1 is deducted

P/Q=3/4 THEREFORE P= 3Q/4
And (P-10)=(Q-10)/2
2(P-10)= (Q-10)
2P-20=Q-10
2P-Q=10

Now putting value of P(i.e. P=3Q/4)
2*3Q/4 -20=Q-10
By solving this u'll get Q=20
Put the value of Q in P=3Q/4 and get P=15
Now Add P+Q=15+20= 35 is answer

=> 6x � 20 = 4x � 10

let P's age be 'x' and Q's age be y
so, x-10=0.5(y-10)
2x-y=10
now their age's are in the ratio 3:4
x=3y/4,
6y-4y=40, y=20; and x=15,
total their present ages =35
