half of the work is done by 140 persons in 66 day .
now remaining half work will be done by 165 persons in x days

66*140 = 165*x
x = 56
so the remaining half work will be done in 56 days .
so the total elapsed time to complete the work = 66+56 = 122
so the time exceed by 2 days.

Since, work done by 140 men in 66 days = 140M*60D => 9240 M-D (M-D => men days)
(which is half work done)
days left = 120-66 => 54
work left = 9240 M-D (as it is half work done. So, to complete the work we
need to do this much again)
But, in 54 days work done by 140 + 25(extra men)= 165M*54D => 8910M-D
work left after working remaining 54 days with 165 men =9240-8910 => 330M-D

Now,
we have 165 men to do 330M-D work
Days required to complete this work = 330/165 => 2 days
Ans. 2 days more required.

total Work=(no. of person * no. of days)=(half work in 66 days)
therefore, complete work = 2*66*140=18480, out of which 9240 days are left
Now, no. of persons =140+25= 165
Req days= days left/no. of person= 9240/165 = 56 days
=> it takes 66+56= 122 days to complete the work
But 120 days are given
=> 2 days are exceeded

Sol: formula is (M*D*H)/W=Constant............(where M=man,D=day,H=hour and W=work)
according given question
(66*140)/(1/2)=(D*165)/(1/2)
D=56

work done=total number of person*number of days;
half of work done=140*66;
for half of remaining work 25 extra men are added.
therefore ,total men for half work remaining=140+25=165;
let 2nd of work will be completed in X days;
140*66=165*X
X=122;
122-120=2days

TOTAL MAN-DAYS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE REMAINING WORK = 140 * 66 = 9240 MAN-DAYS
NOW 25 MORE MEN ARE EMPLOYED.
TOTAL MEN = 165
165 * DAYS = 9240
DAYS = 56 DAYS
TOTAL TIME TAKEN TO COMPLETE THE WORK = 66 +56 = 122 DAYS
TIME EXCEEDED = 122-120 = 2 DAYS
