since team iit has sequence 3, 6, 12, 24..total sum = 45
team iim has sequence 10, 11, 12, 13..total sum = 46
in first half goals scored = 13

IIT =>1,2,4,8(GP)
IIM =>1,3,5,7(AP)
Therefore,goals scored in 1st half by both teams together=>((1+2)+(1+3))=7 goals
Ans =>7

ap.....a-3x,a-x,a+x,a+3x
gp.....x,2x,4x,8x
now in ap adding all=4a
now on adding gp=15x
if we put a=11 and x=3
then we get ap=44
and gp=45
and this is condition
so value willbe ap=8,10,12,14
value of gp willbe =3,6,12,24
total diff is 1
so in first half .....8+10+3+6=27

IIT=5,10,20,40 total of 75
IIM=16,18,20,22 total of 76
as both the above statement satisifes the question
so total goals scored in first half =5+10+16+18
total=49

They are equal in 1st quarter...because a a+d a+2d a+3d
a ar a*2r a*3r.
we have different ways that they are differ by 1.
1 3 5 7---16
1 2 4 8---15 for a=1,d=2,r=2.
then their 1st quarter score by both can be 1+1=2.we must not take different "a" values .what ever the combination we used rather than r=d=2.the question does not satisfies.
