1/8=0.12
2/9=0.22
3/1=3
thus,1/8 is the smallest

Ans : 1/8

1/7 means 7th part of 1
1/8 means 8th part of 1
here 8th part is smaller than 7th part.
next 2/9 means 4.5th part of 1 it is obviously greater than 8th part of 1.
And 3/1 means 3 so it largest part.

So finally 1/8 th is the answer

for these kind of questions
first compare 1/7 & 1/8
after cross multiplication (1/7) = (1/8) : 8 = 7
The side which has lowest value will be smaller one so 1/8
next compare 1/8 and 2/9 we get 9 : 16, on 1/8 side we got 9(least) so 1/8 is smallest
like that we can compare other fractions also

if you take LCM of all the 4 denomitors it is 504.
1/7=72/504
1/8=63/504
2/9=112/504
3/1=1512/504
so the smallest is 1/8

From the above choices last one is neglected as we know that 3 is greater than all of given choices. So coming to next alternatives we have 1/7,1/8 & 2/9.. First eliminate the numerator 2 in the last option so that divide all the options by 2 we get 1/14;1/16;1/9 .. As we know value of whose denominator is large then that will be the smallest one so 1/16 is smaller of all.. That implies 1/8 is ryt choice. Make sure that choose options by eliminating. That will really helps you
