last year:- x-1=3(y-1)
next year:- x+1=2(y+1)
solving we get,x=7
so,after 5 years x=12.

Last Year Means "-1" so
Last year pandit was thrice his sister's age=>(x-1)=3(y-1)......(1)

Then Next Year Means "+1" so
Next year he is only twice her age=>(x+1)=2(y+1)................(2)

After Solving We Get
x=3y-2...........................................................(1)
x=2y+1...........................................................(2)

Next..............
Put 3y-2=2y+1
We Get y=3

Substitute y=3 in x=3y-2 and get the value of x we x=3(3)-2=>7

Nw After 5 years what is pandit's age. so itz x+5=>7+5=12.

let pandits present age is x and his sister age is y..
last year means (x-1)=3(y-1)
next year means (x+1)=2(y+1)
solvingg equation we get x=7 and y=3
after 5 years pandits age will be (7+5)=12

One yr ago: Pandit-6 Sister-2(THRIcE)

let us assume the present age of pandit is P and his sister's age is S
then according to given last year pandit was thrice his sister's age
--> (P-1) = 3(S-1)
next year he is twice her age
-->(P+1)= 2(s+1)
On solving both the equations,we get
P = 7 and S= 3
so after 5 years from now that is P+5 = 7+5 =12 years
Ans : 12 years
OPTION : b

let x= pandit age and y=sister age. x+1=2(y+1) and x-1=3(y-1) so by solving we will get x=7 and y =3 so answer is 12 (as x+7=12)

12 as 5 years before that is in present year pandit was 7 years old and 1 year back he was 6 years old that is thrice of her sister's age(2) and next year he will 8 years old that is twice of her sister (4 ).
