suppose every person pay Rs x
x+x+x+x=4x
240+x+x+x/2=4x
240+5x/2=4x
4x-5x/2=240
3x=480
x=160
so d pay Rs 80

Many solutions are possible.

One possible solution is
If earlier each was supposed t0 pay Rs 160, then now
A paid 240
B paid 160
C paid 160
D paid 80 Rs.

Suppose total bill is 4x in starting
so every one is supposed to pay Rs. x
A ..B.. C.. D
x + x + x + x = 4x
240 + 2y + x/2 = 4x
7x/2 -2y= 240

one eqn with 2 variables.

so many solutions are satisfying this condition.
