At least 2 years.

If present ages are 5 and 7, ratio of current age of x and y is 5:7, after 2 years their age ratio will b 7:9.
If present ages are 10 and 14, ratio of current age of x and y is 5:7, after 4 years their ages will be 14 and 18 years and ratio will b 7:9.

ANS COULD BE 2 YEARS BUT I THINK IT SHOULD MENTION IN THE QUE LIKE SUM OF THEIR AGES IS 12 ETC.

--- = -- ==> 45+9y=49+7y ==> 2y=4 ==>y=2
7+y 9

Hence ans is 2 yrs

x:y=5:7
(5+X)/(7+X)=7/9
=>2X=4
=>X=2
therefore 2 years
