Mixture of 40 liters of milk=36M and 4W(Ratio is 90:10)
Now the New mixture shall be in the ratio of 80:20
Now water shall be added but milk shall not be touched
therefore 80% is equivalent to 36
100% is (36/80)*100=45
Thus water shall be added=(45-36-4)=5 liters of water

Let x be the water to be added
So, as per problem,
(4+x)=20/100 *(40+x)
Hence x = 5 lit

In a new mixture.. the milk should be 80%
so 36 ltr= 80%
so total will be 36*100/80= 45 ltr
hence added water is 45-40 = 5 ltr

40 liters of mixture contains 4 liters of water (10%). So, it has 36 liters of milk.
if 36 liters 80%,
100% (36/80)x100 = 45 liters

So, the total water in the mixture should be 9 liters. Since there is already 4 liters in the mixture, 5 liters need to be added.

x-40=x/5
x=50(total mixure)
20% means 10 lit should be in the mixture
10% means 5 lit is already present so rest 5 lit would be added.

4 liter of water and 36 liter of milk
now 20*40/100=8
now in new mixture water is 8 liter and milk is 32 liter
so ratio =1:4
4+x/36=1/4
x=5 liter

milk= 90% i.e. 36 litre
water=10% i.e. 4 litre
now, water is increased to 20%, so milk must be 80%.
milk should not be touched and water level is changing.
so ratio is 4:1=80%/20%.
let x be added water in the mixture.
milk/water= 36/(4+x)=4/1
gives x=5 litre means 5 litre is added to the mixture to get water as 20%.
