Let the total no of days for completing the work = x
so according to the given condition
(x-10)(1/20) + (x)(1/30) = 1
on solving we will get x = 18

answer is 18 days.... a quits 10 days before means b wrks for 10 days alone.
Work done By B alone is : 1/30*10=1/3
wrk left=2/3
1/12 wrk is done by A+B in 1 day
2/3 wrk is done in: 12*3/2=18

A and B togthr can do 1/12th work in 1 day.. then they can cmplt in 12days. 10days before it completed, A left. so they togethr workd for 2 days. they workd 1/6th work in 2days. so left work is 5/6th. Bcan do alone 1/30th in 1 day. so B can do 5/6th in 25days. so total no. of days required to cmplt the work is 25+2=27days

A's and B's 10 days work=10*(1/20+1/30)=5/6
Rest of the work is to be completed by B alone=1-5/6=1/6
B's 1 work can be completed in 15 days
B's 1/6 work can be completed in 15*1/6=2.5days(option not given)

as A and B can together in 12 days.. A worked for 2 days. in 2 days A worked 1/10. now left over work is 1-1/10=9/10 . now in 10 days work is done by B. hence, 30*9/10= 27 days
