(p+a)'s 1 day work is (1/40+1/25) = 13/200
let they work for x days and after that p left.
Therfore, (p+a)'s x days work togethor = (13/200)*x
Now, Remaining work = 1-(13*x/200) = (200-13*x)/200

This remaining work is to be done by a alone.

We know that a's 1 day work is 1/25
Therefore, a's 12 days work = 12/25

12/25 = (200-13x)/200
x=8

hence, a work for x+12 days;
now
(x/40)+(x+12)/25=1;
x=8;

time taken by A&P x-12

x/25+(x-12)(1/25+1/40)=1

by solving x=256/21
