U have to do it by x but u can make it a bit simpler for ur easy calculaions
let they take 3x days to complete the work and y tons per day
so 3xy = 1800 => y=600/x

so the equation stands x(y-20) +(2x-1)(y+20)=1800
substituting x by y u will get x as x

so value of y will be 100

I feel thats the shortest way out
