ans: D = 8
XYY+XZ=ABCX => 944 + 95 = 1039
XYY-XZ=DYX => 944 - 95 = 849

XYY+XZ=ABCX
A will be 1 & X=9

XYY-XZ=DYX

see first column Y+Z=X & Y-Z=X so Y=4,Z=5 etc.

How are you getting xyy = 955 and xz = 96 please explain!

XYY+XZ=ABCX,If u take XYY=955 and XZ=96 then the sum is 1051(ABCX),where X is not equal to 9,then how you assumed XYY to be 955?

XYY - XZ = 955-96 = 879
So D = 8

Here it is observed that 3 digit + 2 digit = 4 digit. In such a situation the value of A is always 1 because the values of other letters will lie between 0 and 9 and max is 9. As a result, we can also conclude that X=9 and so B=0. So we can write

Now Y+Z=9 and Y+9 = 10+C since there is carry on X in 3 digit. So Y=1+C. Possible combination of Y,Z : (2,7), (3,6), (4,5) and NOT (1,8) since A=1.

Now C should be less than equal to 8.

Here Y-Z=9. So Y
