w changed to I with a carry so, W = 9, G = 1, I = 0
(A + A) GIVES F with a carry so, A > 4

I(0) + L = T => must be a carry from sum T+L = S so, T=(L+1)
so, check (T,L) for (8,7),(7,6)

finally we get

1 0 2 8 5
------------------

so, T+A+G = 8+6+1 = 15

it is also given that A=5 and S=6,,, so substitute them we get,,

+ 5 L L

we need to find out the values of T,A and G,,,,, we already know the value of A its 5
so if we observe the above addition clearly W changed to GI means it has an carry and the carry surely will be 1 and cannot be more than that... so W should be 9 and so then I will become 1 and even G becomes 1
so we got the values of A and G now T

Observe the above addition we get two equations
T+L=6 (units place) --------equ 1
I+L=T (tens place) ----------equ2
substituting I=0 in equtn 2
we get 0+X=T ie T=L
So equ 1 becomes T+T=6 ie 2T=6
therefore T=3

And finally T+A+G=3+5+1=9 :)

Those who are unable solve cryptography problem they can read this.In this problem there is maximum 9 alphabets we are using the 9 alphabets are assigning 9 no(from 0 to 9 unique no). After looking to the question you Analise and by hit and trail method you got answer.Its only based on logical thinking.
