Let the Total Income be X.

20,000 is spend for advertising.
"half of the remainder on commissions"->So, it is expressed as
((X-20000)/2)
6000 remain.

So algebrically,

X=20000 +((X-20000)/2)) + 6000
X-X/2 = 20000-10000+60000

X=32000

x-x/2=26,000

then add 20,000+12000=32000 ans

Total income =x
Advertise=20,000
Remain=x-20,000
commission=(x-20,000)/2
total income=20,000+(x-20,000)/2+6000
x=20,000+x/2-10,000+6000
x-x/2=16,000
x/2=16,000
x=32000

6000+6000=12000
20000+12000=32000
Ans 32000

let the total income of the company be X,
They spent Rs.20,000 on Advertisement and Half on Commissions and has Rs.6000 left,

then,
X = 20000 + ((X-20000)/2) +6000
which gives Rs.32,000

Alternate Method,
____________________

They spent Rs.20000 on Ad.
They had Rs.6000 left.
They said that, half of remaining spent in commissions
so half means 12000/2 which they have Rs.6000 left, thus they spent Rs.6000 on commissions

So, totally X = 20000+6000+6000
thus X=32,000
