Sol) the clock normally has 12 hr
three parts x,y,z
x+y+z=12
x=y+z
2x=12
x=6
so the largest part is 6 hrs

numbers on clock= 1,2,3............12
sum of these numbers= n(n+1)/2= (12*13)/2= 78
now, let sum of 1st part =x
..................2nd part=y
.................3rd part= z
so, x+y+z=78 -----eq1
let, x= y+z (given) -----eq2

putting value of y+z=x from eq2 in eq1 we get,
2x=78
so, x=39
so, sum of largest part, i.e. x=39 hrs

There are total 12 hrs in the clock.
let the 3 parts be x,y,z
x+y+z=12
Let z be the bigger part
z=x+y
z=6
The biggest part is of 6 hrs

Three parts are
1st part : 10,9,8
2nd part : 11,12,1,2
3rd part : 3,4,5,6,7

so that we can get the sum values of pieces at AP with the common difference of 1.
Hence total hours in the bigger part is 25 hrs

Thankz MsMr.Pompita..I got the correct soln from ur idea only..But sorry ur answer is nt rit.They dint say tht remaing two pats sum is equal to the bigger part.so we can,t do in that way.
