Say cost of petrol is 100.
New cost = 125.
Now he spends only 115, so would get only 115/125 = 0.92 of the quantity.
SO he should reduce his consumption by 8% .

Option C.
Let, the price of 1 litre petrol be Rs. x and Kelvin buy Y litres of petrol.

so, Money spent=xy

Now, New rate of Petrol =Rs 1.25x


now, the money spent by kelvin= Rs. 1.15xy

let,Now Kelvin buy q litres of petrol

so, 1.25x * q =1.15xy
=> q =0.92y

so, reduce in consumption = 8%

assume petrol price=100rs and he spends 100rs for petrol
25% increase --> 125rs
but he spends additional 15% only --> 115 rs
tat means reduce % = (115/125)*100 = 8%
