If one got x marks , other got x+9 marks.

x+9/ x = 56/44
56x= 44 x + 396
x= 396/ 12= 33

so marks are 42 and 33.

If one gets 56 % then other will get 44 %.
As the difference in marks is of 56-44 = 12% which is 9
So 12 % = 9
100% = x

x = 100*9/12

First student marks = 100 * 9 * 56 / 12 * 100 =>> 42

Second student marks = 100 * 9 * 44 / 12 * 100 =>> 33

Say one student gets x+9 and the other gets x.
Then the statement translates to the following equation:
x+9= 56/100(x+x+9)

This is because the statement is talking about the person who scored 9 marks more, i., "his" (person with 9 marks more) marks was 56% of the sum of their marks.
on solving... x+9=(112x + 504)/100
Cross multiplying... 100x + 900 = 112x + 504
Hence x=33

Let the mark of one student=x
and the mark of another one=x+9
x+9=(x+x+9)*(56/100)
after solving the eqution x=33
so,ans 42,33
