total run upto 18 inning= 18*18 (inning*average)=324 ,
total run upto 17 inning = 324-18= 306 ,(batsman create 18 run in 18th inning) avg of 17 inning =306/17 =18 answer

x1+x2+...............x17=18{18-1}
x1+x2+..............x17}/17=18
hence 18 is required answer.

total innings=18
avg=18
so total run at 18th innings is 18*18=324
total at 17th inning=324-18=306
now 306/17=18
ans:18

ya guys here we are ..i will explain this in a basic way
First we take first sentence ...so normally he scored some runs up to 17 innings and in 18 innings he scored 18 runs which means

x + 18
--------- = 18
18

so the above equation goes like this...his total average 18(given) and totally 18 innings(given) and x is the total runs in 17 innings + 18 innings run which is 18.

solving that u get x=306 ( which is , In 17 innings total runs scored by the batsman)
so

306
--- = ?(tats the answer :) )
17

306/17 = 18

and tats it ...do not complicate it..In maths whatever you feel from the question just write and solve you will get the answer easily !!! :p
