If speed of stream is s
and that of boat is 2s,
If distance PQ is x, then
x/3s= 2
and
x/s=6

For any distance , this condition will satisfy.
Distance travelled will depend on speed of stream and hence on speed of boat..

Suppose pq represents the distance, and s represents the speed of the boat.
Downstream, the equation for the travel time is
pq/(s + s/2) = 2
pq = 2(3/2s)
pq = 3s

Upstream, the equation for the travel time is
pq/(s - s/2) = 6
pq = 6(s/2)
pq = 3s

There is insufficient information given to find the actual distance. We can only say it is the distance the boat would travel in still water in 3 hours.
