26 steps 30 seconds and for 34 steps only 18 seconds left to reach botto.

Means he covered 8 steps (i.e.34-26) in 12 (i.e 30-18)seconds
The spped of the boy is 8 steps in 12 seconds
after further simplyfy..2 steps in 3 seconds

After 34 steps only 18 seconds, means 12 more steps are left
Total Steps are 34+12 = 46

If he walk 26 steps 30 seconds required
for 34 steps only 18 seconds
30*34-26*18/30-18=46

d=s*t therefore s=d/t
now the distance is height H of the escalator
CASE 1: H-26/30
CASE 2: H-34/18
we have varies the distance keeping velocity constant therefore we can equate them
h-26/30 = h-34/18
h=46
