lets make this simple ..let rahul age be x

so sachin will be = x-7

now whenever you get ratio you put them as division like this 7/9 ..

so

x-7 7
--- = ---
x 9
The above representation may be looks like something rubbish after i submit..so i will make a simple explanation for above thing..

x-7/x=7/9 (This is what i made exactly above)

solving x we get x=31.5

and question is for sachin and now we do x-7 = 31.5(which is x ) - 7 = 24.5


answer is D.24.5 years.

suppose ages are 7x and 9x, then 9x-7x=7 yrs
2x=7
x=7/2 yrs

age of sachin = 7x=7*3.5 =24.5 yrs ...option D

let age of sachin is x then the age of Rahul is x-7.
then x/(x-7)=7/9
then x=24.5

Let Rahul's age be x, then Sachin's age will be x-7 years. As given (x-7)/x=7/9.
Solving for x we get Sachin's age = 24.5
