Of the articles on topics other than current affairs, 50 percent are by staff members with less than 5 years experience.

18 articles
total 40 articles are there(50% are written by staff members and they are 20).
40x60/100=24, on current affairs .
24x75/100=18

Ans: 18 articles
Expl: 50% articles are written by staff members=20 (given in ques)
Thus, total no. of articles= 20/(50%)
=20*100/50 = 40 articles

articles on current affairs= 60% of total articles
= (60/100)*40
= 24 articles

Now, articles written by experienced journalists on current affairs
= 75% of 24 articles
= (75/100)*24
= 18 articles.

18+ (20-18)/2 = 18

The procedure posted above is correct, but there is a slight mistake.
The question is how many articles have been written by journalist.
Therefore the answer would be-
Let the total number of articles be X.
Therefore, the number of articles written by staff is- 50%of X=
X/2.
