12 boxes of different sizes are possible.

But if you mean different sizes of boxes at a time, then case is different. Pls clarify. In that case 3 boxes of sizes (6*6*1, 6*6*2, 6*6*3)can be made.

In first case
If x inches is 3 rd dimension , then

72+24x= 360
24x= 288
x=12

so x can have 12 integer values from 1 to 12.
