Mr. Mukhambo has two numbers and say that their difference, their sum and their product are to one another as 1:7:24. Mukhambo wants to find out whether you can get him the product of those two numbers:

a) 24 b) 6 c) 48 d) 12

Solution
let the numbers are x and y so according to the given condition
x+y = 7k
x-y = k
and x*y = 24k
on solving 1st and 2nd equations we get x = 4k and y = 3k
so 4k*3k = 24k
or k = 2
so product of the numbers = 12(k^2) = 48
