Laxman went 15 kms from my house, then turned left and walked 20 kms. He then turned east and walked 25 kms and finally turning left covered 20kms. How far was he from his house?

Solution

If we plot a graph for the given motion then we find that total distance in a direction is 40 km. and there is 40 km. in perpendicular to that direction so direct distance of Laxman from the initial position will be sqrt(40^2 + 40^2) = 40 sqrt(2) = 40*1.414
