If 2p = 4q = 8r and ( 1/2p + 1/4q + 1/6r ) = 24/7 then the value of r is

(a)7/16 (b)7/32 (c)7/48 (d)7/64

Solution
let p = k/2, q = k/4, r = k/8, on putting these values in 2nd equation, we get
1/2(k/2) + 1/4(k/4) + 1/6(k/8) = 24/7
1/k + 1/k + 4/3k = 24/7
10/3k = 24/7
k = 35/36, on putting k = 35/36, r = (35/36)/8 = 35/288
None of the option is correct for the given question
