1 to 9.............9 = 9
10 to 99...........90*2 = 180
100 to 999.........900*3=2700
1000...............4 = 4

1-9 no. of keystrokes=9
10-99 no. of keystrokes=90*2=180
100-999 no. of keystrokes=((999-100)+1)*3=2700
1000 no. of keystrokes=4
total =9+180+2700+4=2893

2893 key strokes are needed to type nos from 1 to 1000
numbers 1 to 9 require 1*9=9 key strokes
numbers 10 to 99 require 2*90=180 key strokes
numbers 100 to 999 require 3*900=2700 key strokes
number 1000 needs 4 key strokes
so adding them all 9+180+2700+4=2893 strokes

100-999=2597
1000=4
add all

addng we get 2893
