3 because ,
suppose we take 3 then either
3 can be black,
or 3 can be white,
or 2 white 1 black,
or 2 black 1 white
in all cases we have one matching pair..

suppose we take 15 then at the worst case
14 black and 1 white...

so minimum number of socks required to have matching pair=8

14 black n 7white so possibility of taking pair of sock is 14 black socks=7pair of black sock n 7 white socks=3pair+1white socks. he had not ask about particularly white r black so max possibility is 7pair of black n 3pair of white n now minimum possibility is 1pair of white n 1pair of black i.e 2 is ans
