A shop keeper divides an ice cream brick into two halves, then cuts one of the halves into equal parts each of 20 grams. finally there are 7 portions. what is the weight of original brick?

a.120

b.140

c.90

d.240

solution:
finally there are 7 portions i.e 1 half portion + 6 equal parts of remaining half portion.

each equal parts is 20 grams. => 6*20 = 120 grams(which is one half)

therefore the remaining half is 120 grams.

total weight of ice cream brick = 120 + 120 = 240 grams

See it is clearly mentioned that One half contain 5 portions dat means it is talking about the half portion not the whole brick......
so dat means 5 portions of a half brick
wat i thnk is it should be


5*12=60 ( 5 portion * 12 gm Per)
60 * 2 = 120 ( for 2 half bricks)
please let me knw if ny bdy have ny doubt in this..

so answer is 96
because One halves cutted into 4 piece and 1 is remaining one.
so
4*12=48
another portion is also of 48 gm
48+48=96.

For Harsha's question the answer is 7 eual halves each contains 20gms so one half weight would be=7*20-->140
anther half would be=140 so total =280(is answer for Harsha)

For sudheer kumar answer=120
