If we analyse Statement 1: LHS can be less than 0 for two cases:
- Case 1: x < 0 and |x| < 1 (so that x^3 will be -ve and (1-x^2) will be +ve)
- Case 2: x > 0 and |x| > 1 (so that x^3 will be +ve and (1-x^2) will be -ve)

Now on analyzing Statement 2: x^2 > 1 => |x| > 1 => case 2 above gets satisfied. Hence we need both the statements.

@Naveen, why you are taking & condition, It may possible to take or condition also.In given ques it was not said that take and for both statemens.
And Finaly you answered x belongs to (1, infinity) which is also wrong. Just put x=2 in statement 1 and see the outcomes.
