the question is based on pythagorus theorem. pole m is to the SW of pole e. so the distance between pole e and pole m is square root(3^2 + 4^2)= 5

DISTANCE BETWEEN POLE E AND POLE M=ROOT OF(5 4 SQUARE + 3 SQUARE)
= 5 CM
