Let speed of Shyam be 'x' kmph, then
Ratio of speed of Ram and Shyam = Square root of (Time taken by Shyam to Reach X after they meet / Time taken by Ram to Reach Y after they meet)
=> 48/x = Sqrt(16/4)
=> 48/x = 2
=> x=24

If two objects start at the same time from points A and B towards each other and after crossing they take a and b sec in reaching B and A respectively, then:(A's speed) : (B's speed) = (√b :√a)
so here,
48/x=√16/√4
x=24

Let the distance between X and Y is 'x' kms
Time taken by Ram to reach Y = 4hrs
Speed of Ram = 48kmph

We know Speed =Distance/Time
Distance= Speed * Time
x=48*4= 192kms
Given Time taken by Shyam to reach X = 16 hrs
Speed of Shyam= Distance between X and Y/ Time taken by Shyam
= 192/16
=12kmph

It's is clearly given that shyam taken 16hrs to reach X from y ,X speed is given that is 48kmph ,time taken to cover distance by X is 4hrs given in question, Distance=speed * time .distance=(48*4)=192.
Distance=192km.now we know the distance ,we have to find shyam speed,so speed = distance/time
Speed=(192/16)=12.
So shyam speed=12kmph.

the distance traveled by ram and shyam is equal.
distance traveled by ram is 4*48 = 192kms.
then shyam is also travel distance is 192kms.

Let we take the speed of shyam is x.
4*48 = 16 * x
4*48/16 = x
12 = x
Therefor the speed of shyam is 12km/h

d). 12 kmph not 24 kmph

because the distance is equal for Ram and Shyam from X to Y or Y to X.

As it is 192 km for ram from x to y [ d=s*t therefore d = 48kmph * 4h = 192km ]

so the distance will be remain same for shyam, whatever be the speed or time

as for shyam if speed is a). 24 kmph then d=s*t therefore d = 24kmph * 16hr = 384km != 192km

b). 56 kmph then d=s*t therefore d = 56kmph * 16hr = 896km != 192km

c). 32 kmph then d=s*t therefore d = 32kmph * 16hr = 512km != 192km

d). 12 kmph then d=s*t therefore d = 12kmph * 16hr = 192km = 192km

the correct answer is d) 12kmph
the ratio of speeds (speed of Shyam : speed of Ram) = the ratio of times (time taken by Ram : time taken by Shyam)
which gives us
48/x=16/4
48*(4/16)=x
3*4=12=x
hence the speed at which Shyam should be travelling is 12kmph

distance between X and Y is 192 km
Shyam took 16 hours to reach X , then 192km/16hrs= 12km/hr

4 hours = 48 kmph
16 hours = 12 kmph Simple.

so,already they gave the ram's speed and time so
d=48*4
d=192
then,
now shyam time is 16 hrs so,
divide 192/16
and the answer is 12 kmph

=> 48 : x = (16^1/2 : 4^1/2)
=> 48 : x = (4 : 2)
